September 3, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Online Lecture Toronto Union Station 1858-1927
Take a virtual tour of Toronto’s Union Stations and see the evolution of one of Toronto’s most famous landmarks!

About this Event

Toronto has had four Union Stations, including the current one. The first was a modest structure west of York Street that opened in 1858. Derek Boles uncovered a few previously unseen images of this station. The second was a far grander building that opened in 1873. That station was so extensively modified and expanded in the 1890s that it should be considered the third. The fourth and current Union Station was built between 1915 and 1920, but not opened until 1927. This lecture covers the first three and the construction of today’s Union Station. A subsequent lecture deals with the facility in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

We present this lecture digitally through the WebEx platform in one evening and divided into two sections with a short break in the middle.
