Second Tuesday Zoom Talk: From Platform to Battlefield: Toronto’s Union Station and Canada’s World War Soldiers

Ryan Goldsworthy will explore the importance of Toronto’s railway network to Canada’s World War efforts. Anchored by Union Station, a major transportation hub, Toronto’s rails moved tens of thousands of soldiers, and millions of munitions and supplies towards the front. He will explain how the logistics of locomotives and steel rails enabled our nation’s overseas contributions. He will also touch upon some of the human stories seen on crowded platforms with waving loved ones looking on.
