Revitalizing the Museum Store

Thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the museum store was able to continue improving its retail infrastructure. The store has changed a lot since we first reopened back in 2022: New shelves, tables, bookshelves, better lighting, a new Point Of Sale system, and many additional improvements.

One of the biggest changes the store has seen is the addition of even more local vendors. Many of the vendors are local to Ontario and some even to Toronto. Thanks to the vendors listed below we’ve revitalized our shop since 2022. We are proud to work with:

  • Polar Magnetics Inc.
  • Puce Creek Hobby Distributors Inc.
  • Rapido Trains Inc.
  • TOP Marketing
  • HarperCollins Canada Ltd.
  • Stortz Toys Inc.
  • Heritage Arts Editions Inc.
  • Toronto’s First Post Office
  • Intricate Greetings
  • Plumleaf Press Inc.
  • Toronto Popcorn Company
  • Joseph Zhuang/JoeDesign Co.
  • PinnacleAwards Inc.
  • Eurographics Inc.
  • Raincoast Distributors Group
  • Jual Souvenir Coins
  • And many more!
Celebrate the museum store anniversary with us and see what’s new in store!

Vendor Spotlight

JoeDesign Co. x Toronto Railway Museum Art Prints

This year a local Toronto artist named Joseph Zhuang reached out to TRM expressing interest in selling his ‘Railway Stations Across Canada’ art print. He modified the art print for our store and soon after, Joseph agreed to do a custom art print of some of the museum’s own rolling stock. The first for TRM and after months of hard work; they’re now available at our store!

Custom Magnets and Keychains

One of the highlights for the Museum Store and new to us for 2023 is custom magnets, keychains, and postcards! We want to thank Polar Magnetics Inc. for helping us with creating quality items for the Museum Store.

Stationery

Thanks to our many stationery vendors. We have a large selection of postcards, greeting cards, pens, and journals! Special thanks to Heritage Art Editions Inc., Eurographics Inc., and Intricate Greetings for all of these great greeting cards!

See what’s new in the stationery section of the museum store. We sell stamps too!

Books

A major change to our museum store was our book selection. We now have a greater selection of books about trains specifically for children. Some highlights include I Am Not a Ghost from Plumleaf Press Inc. who also helped us get our copies signed by the authors and illustrator. Thank you to Puce Creek Hobby Distributors Inc. for providing us with copies of Toronto Street Cars: Shifting Geographies which later on were signed by Brian and Michael Doucet, authors of the book. Finally, we have How Do Trains Work? from Raincoast Distribution Group which has become a favourite of our visitors.
